So, you're a King?
My Kingdom is not built of gold:
Is not founded on wealth
Or military might;
Is not measured in house prices, GDP or wars won.
My Kingdom is not built
As a mere Big Society
Which hopes for the best
For the powerless
But does not put their needs first.
My Kingdom is not built
Of stone, stained glass and splendour,
Nor measured in church attendance figures
(However freshly expressed).
No.
My Kingdom is built
Of the wood of the cross:
Of pain, humiliation, injustice;
Of weakness, defeat and death:
God with us.
God saving us.
God redeeming us.
Grace.
Meet me in a few days
And you'll see.
